Blamey OH&S Training Centre provides an extensive range of training in Occupational Health and Safety to a wide variety of industries. Our courses are developed in a modular format so there is the option of selecting a single module to cover one issue, or a range of modules to develop a customised, comprehensive course to cover all issues in your workplace.

The following courses are not longer accredited by WorkCover NSW, however the contents and the legal liabilities still primary requirements for your compliancy with current Occupational Health and Safety legislation.

Consultation in the Workplace Occupational Health & Safety for Committee members.
WorkCover NSW Approved 4 day course.

This course has been approved by the WorkCover Authority (NSW) and provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills to deal with OH&S issues in the workplace. The course is interactive and practical and is specifically designed to meet the learning requirements of all individuals. Participants will receive a certificate on satisfactory completion of this course.

Learning Outcomes:
The course will give participants the knowledge to efficiently carry out their duties as an employer or employee OH&S representative. They will have a good understanding of their rights and responsibilities and be able to effectively contribute to the OH&S management processes.

Key areas covered:

Target Audience: Supervisors, Managers, OH&S Representatives, Safety Officers, Safety Committee Members and anyone with an interest in OH&S.

SafetyMAP Training Course,  OH&S Auditing

Duration: 2 days plus a third day approximately 1 month later.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon the Successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  •   Assess the effectiveness of their Health and Safety policies and operations
  •   Establish reasonable goals and time frames for improvement
  •   Gain recognition of the standards achieved

 

Key Areas Covered:

Target Audience: Supervisors, Managers, OH&S Representatives and anyone who wishes to understand the characteristics of the SafetyMAP audit process.

Risk Management. Occupational Health & Safety for Supervisors and Middle Management

If you have an incident in the workplace, the WorkCover inspector will want to talk to the ‘Manager’. If that’s you, this session aims to ensure that you are aware of the five essential steps to a compliant Health and Safety system within your organisation.

On completion of this 2 days, 16 hours course participants will be able to assess their own organisation’s systems and benchmark them against legislative compliance requirements. You will be prepared for that WorkCover Inspector visit.

Manual Handling

This 8.5 hours course (full program) aims to give participants an understanding of their responsibilities under the OHS (Manual Handling) National Regulations 1999, and NSW Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2001. section 4.4. Also an awareness 4 hours course available.

It will show participants how to identify manual handling risks associated with tasks undertaken at work and how to improve productivity and comfort by using correct ergonomic techniques.

This course provides:

Nominal course duration

8.5 hours (full program)

Target Audience:  All employees and employers who are involved in manual handling tasks in their daily operations.

Occupational Health and Safety for Small Business

This 6 hour course is designed to teach small business owners how to plan and implement OH&S policies and procedures to minimise risks to their company and to meet the requirements of tender applications for government and larger organisations.

At the conclusion of this course participants will be able to:

Target Audience: Small businesses, contractors and sub-contractors tendering for works and being asked for information regarding their OH&S Management System.

Managing Contractors OH&S

This 4 hour course is designed to provide staff with an overview of the obligations resulting from the use of Contractors and to provide the skills required to develop the systems necessary to manage these obligations.

At the conclusion of this course participants will be able to:

Target Audience: Management and supervisors involved in selecting and overseeing Contractors and ensuring their work is performed to correct safety standards.

Hazardous Substances & Dangerous Goods in the Workplace

This 6 hour course is designed to provide an overview of Hazardous Substances and Dangerous Goods legislative requirements, including risk assessment approaches to solve and control problems associated with hazardous substances and dangerous goods in the workplace.

Key areas covered:

Target Audience: Managers, Supervisors or anyone involved with use, handling, storage or transport of hazardous substances or dangerous goods.
